RBK 50 Cent Analysis
The monochrome colour scheme of the advert is black and white which connotes a sense of seriousness which reinforces the fact that Reebok are a serious company, also the fact that the central image is 50 cent who is a well known artist around the world suggest that they are advertising to the younger generation such as the teens and late teens. I would also say this because if Reebok were advertising to the older generation then they would have used another artist other than 50 cent as 50 cent is a negative role model because of some of the words in his lyrics. In addition the fact that behind the copy there is a finger print sheet which connotes danger, criminal and outlaw. However the fact that 50 Cents muscles have been made to look bigger refers to Mulvey's theory of the female gaze. Also the myth behind finger print sheets is that they committed something heinous or something which could harm others. The fact that a well know company such as Reebok have used this suggest that they want to relate more to the teenage side of society. The lighting also has a significant effect on the poster as it outlines the key features of the advert like the Scar on his left arm, it also shows that there not using a random stranger but that their using 50 Cent. Also the copy refers to when his past when he got shot at by other people. The fact that there referring to a sensitive memory suggest that there saying that everyone has a past and that she should carry on with what they do everyday which also creates a positive effect on the Reebok company. The copy " I am what I am" also suggests that Reebok are an independent store and that they don't follow others. In this Reebok advert the producers preferred intentions is to come across in a serious tone. In addition to this the copy is in a street text serif suggests that RBK is the latest in fashion sense and is cool, it also reinforces the target audience is for the younger generation. The fact that all the "O"'s have been coloured in white, this could suggests all the times 50 Cent has been shot at. This would give the audience a sense of self pleasure/personal identification.

The colour scheme is of a bright nature which suggests that this is targeting families.However, the fact that the colour of the two children seems drained suggests that this advert is not joyful but is regarding a serious matter. The fact that the tag line says "one child is holding something that's been banned in America to protect them. Guess which one". This suggests that the audience are being told to first think about the mise en scene and come up with the answer they assume is right. The fact that the female in the picture is holding a gun where as the male is holding a kinder egg suggests that the answer is not bait but is concealed. In addition, the fact that the image shows gender reversal could suggests that it is challenging the ideologies that guns are for men and toys are for women. Furthermore, the fact that the child carrying a kinder egg is an oriental child suggests that only the pure white race are superior and more dominant which leads on to Richard Dyer's theory of stereotypes.The tag line at the bottom of this picture says " We wont sell Kinder chocolate eggs in the intrest of child safety. Why not assault weapons?". The positioning of this tag suggests that the people behind the production want the picture to speak for it self and to potray the dominant reading. The fact that the text is small itself suggests that the text is the child and the fact that it could barely be seen suggests that the children in America don't have a choice in any of the choices that could or could not benefit them.
